We lost one of our brightest lights in December 2011, Sharon Smith.
She was a very talented artist and sculptor as well as an exceptional human being. We will all miss her. |

The craft show world is changing. Well of course it is. Nothing ever stays the same. I have been around long enough to see the many differences today.
Craftspeople used to make everything they sold. They were artistic and creative entrepreneurs. Today many still have the same characteristics but do not make everything they sell. They are so busy travelling from show to show, near and far; they have no time to make product to sell. The cost of shows continues to rise, thus today's craftsperson buys most of their product.
In that vein, stores and malls are becoming somewhat antagonistic to vendors who take away their business and deface their malls.
Creative Artisans is planning other venues for their shows. Our first show on Nov. 17th weekend, 2011 at the new state of the art Milton Centre for the Arts was very well received. The Centre is buzzing with activity with their Art Gallery and large theatre with live plays and concerts. There is also a very busy Library and many Community rooms
We have planned 4 weekend shows in the MinMaxx Theatre for 2012 and look forward to an ongoing relationship with the Centre. We will continue to look for exciting opportunities for today's craftspeople. |
